How To: Kubota SVL75-2 50hr Service Interval

We hope to be another resource that helps you with your Kubota SVL75-2 maintenance!

In this blog post we will discuss what is required for the first 50hr service interval, and as promised, a link to download the service manual is available in this post.

INSPECT/CLEAN OUTER AIR ELEMENT
The outer air element is located at the back, right hand side of the machine. There are three tabs that hold the housing onto the intake plenum. Once the housing is removed, pull the outer air cleaner out. It may be snug and require a moderate pull. Be careful not to remove the inner element, or risk damaging it. At this point you can either clean the outer element or replace it. The manual recommends not using air pressure greater than 30psi when cleaning the element. Blow from the inside out without damaging the paper fibers.

INSPECT/CLEAN EVACUATOR VALVE
The evacuator valve prevents over pressure of the airbox. It is located on the outer air element housing that was removed in order to access the filter. Make sure the valve is clear of debris and blockages. Clean and dry the interior of the housing and valve. Use low air pressure to dislodge debris. When reinstalling the housing be sure it is oriented the proper way with the evacuator valve facing the bottom of the maintenance bay.

ADJUST TRACK TENSION
Starting with the bucket flat to the ground, tilt the bucket down to lift the front of the machine off of the ground. This will cause slack between the track and lower idlers. Take a measurement from the bottom of the second idler to the track. If your measurement is more than 1.2″ then grease needs to be applied to increase track tension. Add grease incrementally until the track to idler measurement is between 0.8″ – 1.2″. The grease fitting for the track tensioner is located under the cover plate on the sides of the carriage bulkhead. Two bolts using a 17mm socket need to be removed.

DRAIN FUEL TANK
To keep the bottom of the tank and fuel pick up clear of water and debris, the tank needs to be drained of its lower contents. This requires removing the fuel drain access plate located under the rear of machine. The two bolts securing the cover plate require a 17mm socket. Once the cover is removed the fuel drain valve is accessible, and requires a 19mm socket to loosen. Remove the plug and let fuel flow into a clear container for inspection. Allow at least 30 seconds of flow, or until debris and water cease to drain, before plugging the drain valve. Let the fuel settle for a few minutes and inspect.

REPLACE HYDRAULIC OIL FILTER
Replacing the hydraulic oil filter only needs to be done for the first 50hr interval, and is not required every 50hr service. The cab needs to be lifted in order to access the filter. Remove the large, red safety pin located at the rear, right hand side of the cab above the maintenance door. Then remove the two forward, cab retainer bolts and lift the cab into the upright position. The cab is assisted by a pair of gas springs. Before relaxing the cab, ensure the safety brace on the right hand gas spring engages. Move to the rear of the machine and reengage the safety pin before working under the cab. The hydraulic oil filter is located on the rear, left hand side of the frame. Using a filter wrench, remove the filter taking care to catch any hydraulic fluid that may escape with a container and rags. Fill the new filter with appropriate hydraulic fluid (specified in the manual) and install the new filter. Do not overtighten the new filter. The cab can now be set back to the operating position reversing the process used to secure it upright.
